What's the process?

From intake and estimating to job completion and online payment. Here's a little of what you can expect to see.

1. McCray’s always provide an estimate for repair prior to scheduling the work. This may be done virtually or in person depending on the job request.     

2. Estimates may take 2-4 days (possibly longer), depending on the size of job and materials required. 

3. Once estimates are completed, a text will go out to you indicating that your estimate has been completed.   At that point you should find the estimate in your email.

4. Review the estimate and our terms and conditions.

5. If you have any questions, please call 916.258.1290.  If you are ready to move forward, please select APPROVE. This will automatically place your job into our scheduling queue.  If a deposit is required prior to scheduling, an invoice will be emailed over requesting payment.

6. A team member should reach out within 24-48 hours to schedule.

If by chance you do not receive the expected call to schedule, please call the office to ensure technology has not failed us!

Terms and Conditions

POLICY: McCray’s Handyman Inc. requires that someone 18 or over be present in the home       the entire time our technicians are on site. Exceptions may be made if all work is done on the exterior of the home and there are no animals or access issues, OR If home is vacant and cleared of personal belongings.

 

A. WARRANTIES:

  • We warrant that all materials provided by us shall be as specified and free of defects, and all work shall be completed in a substantially workmanlike manner. This warranty expires one year after completion (depending on scope and trade of work), and is in place of, and not in addition to, any other express or implied warranties of quality, or fitness for habitation or any particular purpose, and such implied warranties are hereby disclaimed.

  This WARRANTY shall be VOID if you:

  • Failing to pay the full contract price.

  • Fail to provide prompt notice of a warranty claim (within three days, or in case of an emergency then as soon as possible) and a reasonable opportunity to correct the problem.

  • Permit any person or firm other than us to complete, correct, perform or redo any work identified within the original scope of the work of this contract with us

  • Fail to pay the full balance within 48 hours of receiving the final invoice, unless other

arrangements for payment have been approved. Upon notifying McCray’s Handyman,

Inc. DBA McCray and Sons Home Solutions of a warranty claim, McCray’s Handyman Inc.

has 48 hours to respond to the claim and contact you to schedule a follow up visit to

validate the claim and or make repairs.

 

B. ESTIMATE SHELF LIFE:

  • Estimates are valid for 30 days.

 

C. PAYMENT TERMS AND AGREEMENT:

  • Payment Method: Accepted methods of payments are Cash, Check and Credit Card.

  • Payment Deadline Residential: Payment is due at time of service unless prior written

authorization is given by McCray’s Handyman, Inc. management. We do not bill third

parties, such as insurance companies. The entity who hires McCray’s Handyman, Inc. is

responsible for payment.

  • Payment Deadline Commercial Properties: Payment is due IN FULL 30 days from job completion and/or invoicing. Invoices are sent via email within 48 hours of job completion. Payments not received in due time will be considered delinquent and subject to a $50 late fee. Weekly payment reminders will be sent. If after 60 days, payment is not made in full, the balance will be sent to a collection agency. All costs of collection, attorney fees, interest and court costs will also become the customer's responsibility.

  • Returned Checks/Late Fees: Returned checks are subject to a $35 service fee. In the

event McCray’s Handyman Inc. technician must wait onsite for customer to return for

payment or must make a secondary trip to collect payment, the customer will be billed

for our time at our rate of ($1.58) per minute.

  • Invoices/Receipts: Invoices and Receipts are sent via email and text. If the customer

doesn’t receive a receipt immediately after making payment, they should let us know as

soon as possible to correct the issue.

  • Refusal Of Service: We reserve the right to refuse service for repeat late payment.

 

D. COST FOR SERVICES & TIME:

  • McCray’s Handyman, Inc. reserves the right to adjust our rates at any time. Our current

rates are reflected on estimates so that there are no surprises. We have two methods of

estimating jobs – service by the hour and flat rate (which may or may not require

customers to provide supplies). In the event customer has provided parts and additional

parts are needed which requires the technician to leave the jobsite OR wait for someone to obtain additional parts to complete the job, customers are ADDITIONALLY billed at our hourly rate of $95/hr ($1.58 a minute) for the time it takes to procure those parts needed (above and beyond the install) to complete the job plus the cost for additional materials. Hourly work is completed at $95/PER MAN HOUR billed in 15 min increments, rounded up.

E. CANCELATION/RESCHEDULING POLICY:

  • McCray's Handyman Inc. requires a 48-hour cancellation on all jobs or portions of jobs. If a customer fails to provide McCray's Handyman Inc. with 48-hour cancellation, make us aware ahead of time of job items they wish to cancel or are unavailable at the time of scheduled services. The customer will be subject to a $95 Cancellation Fee or 50% or the

canceled job or portion of work, whichever is greater. McCray's Handyman, Inc. is Open

Monday-Friday. Example: If you have an appointment on Monday at 3pm, your

appointment must be canceled by THURSDAY 3pm to avoid cancellation fees. If McCray’s Handyman needs to postpone your appointment due to a scheduling conflict on our end, we will credit you a 5% rescheduling discount for the inconvenience. However, if rescheduling is necessary due to inclement weather, the rescheduling discount will not apply.

 

F. NO CALL/NO SHOW POLICY/TURNED AWAY AT TIME OF APPOINTMENT:

  • Our scheduling system distributes automated text & email confirmation upon booking,

in addition to automated reminders 1 day and 1 hour before the appointment. If the

customer is not available at the appointment time and has not notified a member of the

McCray’s Handyman team, our technicians will only wait on site for 5 minutes.

Customers will be charged at our hourly rate of ($1.58) by the minute for any exceptions

made by McCray’s Handyman, Inc. to wait or return to complete your work. After that

time, customers will be subject to a NON-REFUNDABLE $95 trip fee or 50% of the

canceled job or portion of work, whichever is greater.

 

G. DEPOSITS DUE FOR SERVICE:

  • Jobs quoted at $500 or more require a 10% non-refundable deposit to secure your

appointment: this deposit will be applied to your invoice for labor costs. The remaining

labor costs will be due in progress payments (if the job spans multiple days) and/or due

upon job completion.

 

H. PERMITS:

  • Certain jobs may require a permit. McCray’s Handyman, Inc. encourages customers to

obtain the proper permits required for a job if needed, McCray’s Handyman can pull the

required permits, however job costs will reflect the time to pull the permit, the permit

fees and the time to wait onsite to meet the inspectors at various times during your

project. The projects most likely to require a permit are those that change the structure

or use of a building or have the potential to create unsafe working conditions. Common

Projects that Require a Building Permit: New construction of a home or commercial

building new construction of an accessory building Additions or alteration of an existing

home, accessory building, or commercial building Moving/demolishing a building

Occupancy of an existing commercial building for a new commercial use Exterior

Projects: Fences over seven (7) feet in height Masonry fences and walls that exceed (4)

feet in height Patio covers (open or enclosed) Decks that exceed thirty (30) inches above

grade, attached to the home, or greater than 200 SF Reroof on a house, garage or other

structure Siding on a house or garage Installation of a swimming pool or hot tub

Remodeling or conversion of an existing garage Sign installations (Permits are required

from Planning as well as Building) Plumbing/Electrical/Mechanical Projects:

Replacement/installation of water heaters and water softeners Hot tub or whirlpool

installation Replacement of mechanical equipment Any type of electrical, heating or

plumbing alteration/improvement/addition Replacement of furnace or central air

conditioner Alteration of a kitchen/bathroom.

 

I. PARTS & MATERIALS:

  • If you purchase materials that you do not have the means of transport, we offer a

"materials trip service" starting at $60 (price may vary based on location and size of

order/load). Some jobs require materials that we do not keep in stock, such as

sheetrock, lumber, etc. If we install an item in your home/business at your request, and

you later decide that you would like the item removed, please note that a

removal/restocking fee of $95 minimum will be billed to you, depending on degree of

difficulty and time required for removal. If we can return the item, we will deduct that

item from your invoice, but if the item is non-returnable, it will remain on your invoice.

In the event you provide the customer with the materials or fixtures and the materials or fixtures are defective, the customer will be responsible for the time and services that we provided, whether the job was able to be completed. If time in our schedule permits, the technician may swap out the fixture for the customer to complete the installation

that day. In this instance the customer will be charged at our hourly rate of $95/hr. for

any work or time over and above the requirements needed to complete the initial job

we were hired for.

 

  • Sheet Rock/Drywall: If your job requires any sheetrock work, please be aware that

Sheetrock installation and sanding produces fine, white dust. McCray’s Handyman Inc. team members will cover their immediate work area, but we advise that any nearby valuables and electronics are covered before sheetrock work begins. Please note that matching textures is not always easy and will be done to the best of our ability. Larger patch jobs are more likely to be seen to some degree.

  • Paint/Stain: If your job requires paint or stain, please be aware that matching paint is

often difficult. Customers are responsible for providing the paint or stain color of their

choice. If for any reason the paint or stain does not match once dried or you the

customers are not happy with the color; McCray's Handyman will not be held responsible and full payment will still be required.

 

J. DRIVEWAY ACCESS, FAUCET USAGE, AND SPECIAL REQUESTS:

  • Driveway Access: We use the customer's driveway as we may need to come into the

house to bring equipment in or any other tools. We are not responsible for any tire

markings left on the driveways. If the customer doesn't want us to access their driveway,

They must let us know in advance.

  •  Water Faucet Use: We use the customer's water faucet, but it is not our fault if a faucet

stays leaking afterwards. If a hose was connected for a very long time, it might have

been damaged and after we leave the faucet it may start leaking. This is not our fault, if

we notice any leaking while on the property, we will notify the homeowner right away.

  • Special Requests: The customer must let us know of any special requests they may have

in advance. Our technicians have a designated schedule and on some occasions are

unable to honor any requests made on-site due to time constraints. Also, some requests

may add additional charges.

 

K. LADDER & SCAFFOLDING PLACEMENT:

  • Ladder Placement: In performing our services, it may be necessary to place ladders

against the customer’s property, including but not limited to gutters, roof, or siding. The

Customer acknowledges that this is an essential part of carrying out the services and

to the same.

  • Old or Damaged Property: It is the responsibility of the customer to inform McCray’s

Handyman Inc. of any existing damage or concerns about the condition of their property

prior to service. McCray’s Handyman Inc. will not be held liable for any damage that

occurs during ladder/scaffolding placement on properties with pre-existing conditions

that were not disclosed by the customer.

  • Waiver of Liability: By accepting our services, the customer agrees to waive any claims

against McCray’s Handyman Inc. for damages incurred due to ladder/scaffolding

placement during the execution of our services, except in cases of gross negligence or

intentional misconduct by McCray’s Handyman Inc.

 

L. PHOTOS OF JOBS:

  • McCray’s Handyman, Inc. Technicians will be taking before and after photos of the job.  These photos may be used in print, on the web or via social media. If you wish for these photos not to be used in this fashion, please notify us in writing via email getyourfix@mccrayshandyman.com.
