When a local homeowner recently had a pest inspection, the inspector discovered something more troubling than pests — leaking pipes in multiple places beneath the home. With water loss and crawlspace moisture building up, the homeowner needed a certified, dependable plumber she could trust. That’s when she reached out to McCray & Sons Home Services.
Quick Response, Clear Solutions
The homeowner first contacted us in early August. Within just a few days, we were on-site for an inspection and estimate. By the next day, she had the full proposal in hand. With confidence in our plan and our reputation, she approved the estimate right away — and before the end of the month, the entire project was complete.
From first call to completed re-pipe in just a few weeks.
What We Found
Our inspection in the crawlspace revealed that much of the home’s plumbing was still original galvanized pipe, which had rusted and corroded over the decades. The fixture stub-outs (where the plumbing meets sinks, tubs, and toilets) had been updated to copper in the past — but everything beneath the house told a different story:
Old galvanized lines were failing.
Leaks were already present.
The laundry room plumbing still needed to be fully upgraded.
The home’s main shut-off valve was buried in the ground, making it difficult to locate and inconvenient for the homeowner to access in an emergency.
The Solution: Full Re-Pipe & Water Service Upgrade
Our team got to work replacing the entire water system under the house:
Installed a brand-new water service main line into the home.
Added a new above-ground shut-off valve for easier access and peace of mind.
Replaced all branch lines and tied them into the existing copper stub-outs for every fixture in the 3-bed, 2-bath home.
For the laundry area — part of a later home addition — the plumbing had been added on an exterior wall with heavy support beams beneath. Rather than disturbing the structure, we engineered a better solution: drilling through the floor just in front of the wall, abandoning the outdated lines inside, and installing new copper stub-outs with laundry bibs to bring the laundry fully up to date.
The Result: Re-Pipe and Main Line Rebuild for a Peace of Mind
By the end of the project, this home had a fully modernized water system: durable, efficient, and built to last. The homeowner can now enjoy:
Peace of mind knowing her plumbing is reliable.
Lower water bills thanks to leak-free lines.
Environmental savings by reducing wasted water.
Convenience with an easy-to-reach shut-off valve.
Most importantly, she knows she has a trusted local partner she can call anytime plumbing needs arise.
